(Short rods vs long rods ) The short rod travels faster at the top of the stroke and the bottem of the stroke this increase quish velocity ( like advancing ignition timing ) this could hurt top end power because it burns faster on short rods the crank case pressure is higher because there is no spacer plate this increases the hit in the power band may hurt top end because of engine drag from the added crank case pressure Long rods travels slower at t.d.c. and b.d.c. this decrease quish velocity witch increases top end The crank case pressure is lower too frees the engine up on top end and makes the power smoother these are some of the preformace difference the long rod has less rod angle making piston last longer ( not much ) the advange the short rod has is the harder hit in the mid range when stroking a crank we recommend a long rod most of the time
